Samsung had a number of surprises in store at it presentation last night. It unveiled two new tablets in its Ativ range of Windows 8 devices, one of which is the dual mode Q which also runs the Android Jellybean OS. The second tablet was called the Tab 3, running Windows and claimed to be “the world’s thinnest Windows 8 tablet.”
The Q with its 13.3 inch screen, means users can switch between Windows and Android without rebooting. The dual OS also means users can use Android apps when in Windows mode – a useful leg-up to compensate for the relatively smaller Windows App store.
According to Patrick Povel, Samsung’s head of European marketing for Ativ ,‘We’ve taken the outstanding Galaxy DNA and incorporated it into Windows OS-based devices; the Ativ family. We’ve redesigned and recreated the Ativ from scratch to provide the mobility and power performance that people demand.’
However, one thing that Samsung did not unveil was any new Windows smartphone handsets.
