Digitimes has reported that Microsoft has entered partnerships with a number of China- and India-based handset makers.
Additions to Windows Phone handset manufacturers include Lava, Gionee, Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei, and Karbonn. Samsung, HTC, and Compal are companies that are already on board with the WP platform.
According to Digitimes, hHandset makers will be allowed to use dual-SIM technology, run on TD-LTE networks, and add software interfaces of their own.
Microsoft is also reported to be working with Qualcomm on launching a reference design for Windows Phone 8 devices to shorten time to market.
