Kobo to launch Windows Phone reader

Kindle may be the top e-reader, but the alternative Kobo (it’s an anagram of book) is catching up.

Kobo has relaunched its e-reading app for Windows 8 PCs and tablets, and is working on a version for Wndows Phone.

Kobo for Windows 8 not only lets you purchase and read books in-app, but it also lets you pin books as a live tile to the Start screen. Kobo says it will launch the Windows Phone version this spring.

Kobo was acquired by Japanese ecommerce titan Rakuten back in 2011, and since then has steadily grown its presence in a number of markets.
