Following news that the low-end Nokia Lumia 520 is currently the best selling Windows Phone comes news that Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has launched a sub $200 phone – the Ascend W2.
Yesterday, reports unwiredview.com, Huawei started selling their Ascend W2 Windows Phone for 999 Yuan ($163) in China.
The Ascend W2 comes with 4.3 inch 480×800 IPS display, 3G TD-SCDMA connectivity, 1.4 GHz Qualcomm MSM8230 1.4GHz dual-core CPU, a 5 megapixel camera and 8GB of ROM, with micro-SD card support.
These specs are very comparable to Lumia 520, and Huawei doubtless intends to emulate the success of the Lumia 520, it is much bigger marketplace.
This is probably not where Microsoft wants to see its mobile OS, yet it could the best news yet, for the real battleground is the mid to low range, rather than the posh top-end of the Lumia 928.
