Amazon has updated the official Kindle app for Windows Phone.

Kindle updates Windows Phone app

Version 2.0.0.5 of the Kindle app adds several features including fast resume, which allows the app to carry on where it was when launched without having to restart. Amazon has also added the ability to see book progress on the live tile and a new image for the double-width tile.

The Kindle reading app puts more than a million eBooks at your fingertips—and you don’t need to own a Kindle to use it. The Kindle app automatically syncs your eBooks across apps, so you can start reading a book on your Windows Phone 8, and pick up where you left off on another device with the Kindle app installed

The Kindle app enables you to buy once, read everywhere, to read any time you have your Windows Phone with you.

You can personalize your reading by adjusting the screen brightness, font size, margin width, and line height.  You can also read free Kindle books such as Pride & Prejudice or The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

You can download the Kindle app free of charge from the Windows Phone app store here.
